ANALYSIS

Eastgate limped in from the button with his ace high, practicing a little stealth in this heads up battle. Demidov check-called the flop with bottom pair, and he must have thought things were finally looking up for him on turn. Demidov had hit two pair, but Eastgate made a completely disguised wheel. Demidov sprung his check-raise, unaware that he was in desperate need of a redraw to the boat. Eastgate smooth-called, he had his opponent right where he wanted him and did not want to kill the action by raising with his monster. Demidov pushed for value on the river, but saw that his hand was no good once Eastgate snap-called. Demidov finished runner-up and earned $5,809,595, capping off an extraordinary year that saw him finish third in the WSOP Europe main event. Peter Eastgate broke Phil Hellmuth's long-standing record of youngest player to win the main event and earned $9,152,416. Congratulations to both of these phenomenal players.
