Aaron “Gotcha55” Kanter, a mortgage broker from Lodi, California, has proven himself to be a mover and a shaker in online poker as of late. While most of poker’s more casual fans know Kanter best by virtue of his final table appearance at the 2005 World Series of Poker main event (won by Joe Hachem) —  in which he placed fourth, earning $2 million — he is quickly becoming one of the most recognizable names in online poker, as well.

Most recently, Kanter has made some huge wins in online poker tournaments that vaulted him up the 2007 Online Player of the Year (OPOY) standings. He’s taken down both the Full Tilt $200,000-guaranteed tournament on March 4, 2007, for $45,000 and event No. 1 of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series IV, a no-limit hold’em event, on May 11, 2007, for $94,403. His biggest online win to date was for a second-place finish in the PokerStars Sunday Million event on May 20, 2007. He beat out 10,892 other entrants (in what was then the biggest real-money poker tournament of all time, by attendance) to pocket $160,875, after a deal was made at the final table.

Kanter plays as “011180” on PokerStars, “get_that” on Full Tilt, “Gotcha55” on UltimateBet and Absolute poker, and “lost_cause” on Bodog. If you see any of these names at your table, hope for a fortuitous redraw.
